SUMMER MEALS – New Brunswick Public Schools recently began participating in a summer meal distribution program for qualifying students, in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Like the meal distribution program that began in March when school buildings were closed related to the coronavirus pandemic (and which, by June, was providing 55,000 meals per week), meals are being distributed from four city locations, as follows: 

• Alice Jennings Archibald Park (near McKinley Community School)
• 268 Baldwin Street (New Brunswick Adult Learning Center)
• Murphy Park (131 Tunison Road) 
• Feaster Park (near Paul Robeson Community School for the Arts) 

Distribution takes place each Tuesday and Friday, from 10 a.m. to noon. 

“Given the degree to which the coronavirus pandemic has challenged so many families in our community, we decided it was appropriate to continue our successful spring meal distribution program right through the summer,” explains Dr. Aubrey Johnson, superintendent, New Brunswick Public Schools. “Ensuring that our students continue receiving the meals they need is of the highest importance within our school district. And that’s what this program is all about.”
