Dear Parents, Families, and Community Members,

As Principal of the McKinley Kindergarten Center, I have the opportunity to work with some of the youngest members of our school district. At the McKinley Kindergarten Center our Pre-Kindergarten students participate in meaningful learning experience each and every day under the watchful eye of a fantastic group of teachers and support staff.

Our Pre-Kindergarten teachers and paraprofessionals utilize the Tools of the Mind Curriculum to promote the acquisition of literacy and math skills as well as developing the social and emotional skills that will help all of our students to be Prepared, Empowered and Inspired leaders of the future.

Through the Tools of the Mind curriculum, our students explore learning through participation in themes such as Family, Restaurant, and Grocery. Students get to choose from a variety of activities related to these curricular themes.

Our staff utilizes creative activities and exploration opportunities for students. Teachers utilize visits from people that work in the themes being studied to provide students with in the themes to provide students with real life examples from the areas they are learning about.

Our staff collaborates regularly with the Early Childhood Department for regular and ongoing Professional Development opportunities to promote ongoing teacher development and collaborative opportunities for students.

My staff and I are grateful for the opportunity to work with the parents of our students and the New Brunswick community to make sure our students’ initial school experience is positive and propels them to successful futures as lifelong learners and leaders in our communities.
