School History

  • Paul Robeson Community Theme School for the Arts is a Kindergarten through Grade 8 school located in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The school has a proud history of providing integrated arts activities for its students through ongoing partnerships with community partners such as American Repertory Ballet, the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, and the Zimmerli Museum of Art, just to name a few.

    In addition to these arts programs, Paul Robeson Community School maintains a rigorous academic program that is connected to the Common Core State Standards for Literacy and Math.

    Administrators, teachers, and staff at Paul Robeson Community School recognize the key role of parents in the development of our students and we seek to provide a variety of opportunities for parents to participate in activities in the school community. In addition to Parent-Teacher Conferences, and Back to School Night, Paul Robeson Community School teachers provide workshops for parents on the Role of Basic Skills Teachers in Supporting Struggling Students, Parent/Student Technology Workshops, and Fun Learning Activities to Support Student Growth Throughout the School Year. These teacher-led workshops to provide parents with the information needed to support their students' ongoing social and academic growth.

    Paul Robeson Community School has support staff including a School Counselor, School Nurse, School Social Worker, and Child Study Team members to ensure that we address the needs of the Whole Child as we strive to provide students with a strong academic foundation.

    Through our Arts integration activities and focus on academic rigor, Paul Robeson Community Theme School for the Arts is proud to offer a well rounded and rigorous academic program integrated with substantive arts activities allowing students to express themselves through the arts in a variety of forms.
