The Curricula
As a reflection of our culturally rich student and staff body, members of the school community enjoy exposure to a variety of programs. The curricula at Redshaw Elementary School are aligned to New Jersey Student Learning Standards or NJSLS. College and career readiness begin as students enter as preschoolers. Our full-day Pre- K program, supported by Tools of the Mind Curriculum, is progressive, and the content is presented with an integrated developmental approach that allows each learner to become a part of the school community.
21st Century Learners
Daily use of advanced technologies such as personal Chromebooks, Smart Boards/Smart tables, iPads, and desktop computers is the norm at Redshaw. Through scientifically based research strategies and curriculum, the students of A.C. Our entire school community fosters an interactive environment, that encourages life-long learning, respect, and creativity, which prepares students to become responsible citizens equipped to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
We will continue to work on school and district technology initiatives as we move towards becoming the next Future Ready School.

Outside of the classroom, we provide our students' additional opportunities to grow, through several clubs and activities that include our enriching instrumental music program, Safety Patrol, Dance Power, Carolyn Dorfman Dance Residency Program, RWJ Aquatics Swimming Program, Student Council, and Redshaw Run Club 5.
Before and After-School Programs
The Early Reading Foundational Skills Program targets specific students’ needs with an emphasis on basic reading instruction in small groups. Our Extended School Day Program focuses on academic success through the use of small group instruction that targets specific needs in language arts and mathematics. Students Youth Services System (YSS) is an afterschool program that provides a sundry of activities for students that involve homework assistance, sports, exercises, arts, crafts, and more. Finally, Civic League is a 21st-century program that services students in grades 3-5 at Redshaw School. Civic League focuses on homework assignments and academic achievement during the first half and then engages students in enrichment clubs and activities for the remainder of the program day.
School Committees
Within the walls of our school lies devoted staff members and dedicated parents. We have committees that work to include our parents and community members in school activities, including our highly successful Superhero Day, where parents are taught reading strategies and model them in the classroom through read-alouds, as reading superheroes. Our Social-Emotional Learning or SEL Committee continues to work diligently on assisting students with acquiring and applying the positive attitudes and skills necessary to make good decisions, feel and show empathy towards others and establish and maintain positive relationships with the school community. Finally, our Parental Involvement Committee facilitates the active involvement of parents and students' academic learning and other important school activities, such as Read Across America for parents, where parents are taught reading strategies and model them in the classroom through read-alouds. Our parents are actively involved in the PTO, Family STEAM Night, Family Math and Literacy Nights, and other school-sponsored events.
