Woodrow Wilson School is a multicultural Pre K through eighth grade school nestled in the Rutgers Village community on the outskirts of New Brunswick. With an enrollment of 457 students and a dedicated and highly qualified staff who ensure our students achieve academic success. It’s with a team effort, where all stakeholders - staff, parents, and community work together to bring the best out of our students.
A former Nationally Recognized Blue Ribbon School, Woodrow Wilson has embarked on a course to regain that distinction. One of the hallmarks of this is to enlist High Level Thinking strategies within all of our course studies. We are able to ensure our students will be successful by implementing a rigorous standards based curriculum with the aide of effective research based instructional strategies, common planning time, and data analysis.
Armed with our Vision - Woodrow Wilson will Prepare, Empower, and Inspire lifelong learners and leaders. Coupled with our Mission to prepare, empower and inspire students to become engaged in their own learning, their environment, and the world. Students will develop problem - solving and critical - thinking skills and learn to apply them to complex challenges. The entire community will collaborate to create a safe, nurturing environment that allows students to reach their goals.Technology is a vital part of our students learning. Every student from Grade 3 to Grade 8, has access to a personal laptop. Google applications are utilized throughout the curriculum ensuring our students are prepared to perform as citizens of the 21st century. Our Social Emotional Learning program teaches our students to respect each other. Building character is our focus and we encourage this with supplementary programs such as Untagged Gents, Ladies of Vision, Leadership and Step Up. Project Unified and Pen Pal programs build a bond between our school and the New Brunswick High School. Rutgers Future Scholars has also provided scholarships to our worthy students to further their education beyond high school.Over the years, Woodrow Wilson has been a partner with New Brunswick Sister Cities student exchange program as we send students to Budapest, Hungary for a ten day cultural experience. Our students visit Hungary, then the Hungarian students visit our school to experience life as a Woodrow Wilson student. We also establish a teacher partnership with the country of Singapore, as faculty members from that country visited our school to learn how we implement SEL.In addition to our academic program, students participate in a wide variety of activities.
