• Lincoln Elementary School was built in 1910.  The school, located in the heart of the Rutgers University Campus, is comprised of approximately 660 students who are in grade kindergarten through grade three. Over sixty staff members, ranging from custodians, secretaries and practitioners (general education, academic support instructors and special education) work at our school on a daily basis. Due to a significant percentage of the district's population deemed economically disadvantaged, Lincoln Elementary School is considered a Title I school.

At Lincoln Elementary School, teachers provide students with lessons that are engaging, standards-based, differentiated and data driven by integrating research-based best practices and strategies. By using the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) as our guide and data to drive explicit and systematic instruction, we are able to develop each student's potential academically, socially and emotionally. Lincoln Elementary staff members receive on-going staff development to keep current and remain proficient in the most effective instructional practices. Teachers meet on grade level and work collaboratively to provide outstanding academic programs for students.

All instruction is aligned with New Jersey Core Curriculum Standards and Common Core State Standards. The K-4 instructional program encompasses the following areas: Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Health, Science.

Each student also is required to have a World Language, Art, Physical Education and Music classes.  Instrumental, Vocal Music and Band is also offered.

To meet our students individual needs, Lincoln Elementary School offers Basic Skills Instruction, Speech, Child Study Team Services, Resource Center Services, In-class Support, OT/PT, Guidance and an off-site Gifted and Talented Program. A before-school tutoring program was also in place for our at-risk students.

All students participate in our district’s Breakfast-in-the-Classroom program and receive free lunch.

As part of a major technology initiative, our school infrastructure has been equipped with wireless Internet access in all classrooms. Our school took part in the district’s 1 to 1 Chromebook initiative for 3rd and 4th grade students.  Laptop computers on a mobile carts are available for staff and students to use to access the Internet and enhance the curriculum. Students have access to the IXL, Brain Pop, RazKids and Achieve3000 websites. These sites enable our staff to assess student progress on requisite skills. They also give our students an opportunity to further develop and practice the skills they need to succeed. In addition, many of our classrooms are equipped with Smartboard technology. We encourage instructional activities that are infused with technology.

Lincoln School has partnerships with George Street playhouse and the State Theater as well as Robert Wood Johnson Hospital to provide educational experiences for our students.

At Lincoln Elementary School we are committed to developing students who can successfully read, write, and problem solve. We are equally committed to developing good character, through our SEL (social, emotional learning) program students participate in meaningful activities and discussions daily during breakfast in the classroom.

At Lincoln School, we believe that a successful educational experience is a collaborative effort in which many entities play an important role. Creating strong alliances among peers, parents, teachers and the New Brunswick community can facilitate the goals of our mission, which is to provide students with a positive and challenging learning environment which empowers them to become responsible and productive citizens of the world.
