JOAN M. BORNHEIMER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

La Beca Conmemorativa Joan M. Bornheimer de la Oficina Bilingüe es otorgada a un estudiante de último año que ha participado en el programa bilingüe/ESL del distrito durante al menos 1 año. The Bilingual Office Joan M. Bornheimer Memorial Scholarship consists of $1,000 scholarship and 1  Laptop awarded to the first place winner and 1 Laptop to the second place winner.

The Joan Marino Bornheimer Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has participated in the district's Bilingual/ESL Program for at least one year.  The following criteria must be met by any candidate wishing to apply:

    • The student must have been a student at New Brunswick High School or New Brunswick Health Sciences Technology High School for at least one year.

    • Has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

    • Has been active in school activities

    • Has been accepted to a two or four-year institution of higher learning

KETY MACHADO SCHOLARSHIP

Kety Machado was a passionate educator who dedicated herself to her students. Mrs. Machado most cherished moments were in the New Brunswick Public Schools working with her bilingual students. She understood their struggles and challenges. Like her, they were immigrants to the United States and needed support starting over in a new country. After arriving from Cuba, Mrs. Machado was the recipient of a scholarship, which enabled her to graduate from Ashland College, Ohio. Mrs. Machado believed strongly in the importance of education.

2021-2022:

Nahomy Conrrado, New Brunswick High School.

$3,000 Scholarship awarded by Elizabeth Machado, her family, and friends.
