• Here at the Transportation Department, safety is our first priority; we ask that you please take a moment to review the School Bus Safety and Transportation Regulations to ensure the safe transportation of the students of the New Brunswick School District.

    New Brunswick Public Schools provides transportation to and from school for all students in grades K-8 who reside more than two (2) miles and students in grades 9-12 who reside more than two and a half (2.5) miles from their assigned school (In accordance with State law, N.J.S.A. 18A: 39-1). Transportation shall be provided to public school students who reside remote from their assigned school of attendance and special education students who reside remote from their assigned school or who require transportation services in accordance with their Individualized Education Program (IEP).

  • Emergency closings due to inclement weather and weather-related early dismissal will be announced commencing at 6:00 AM - 8:30 AM on radio station WCTC (1450 AM) or WMGQ (98.3 FM), New Jersey 101.5 FM radio, as well as WABC-TV Channel 7, News 12 New Jersey, and Nixle. Also, you can call the Board Office at (732) 745-5300 for any closing announcements or visit the district homepage for announcements.

    In the event of a delayed opening, please refer to the school calendar for your child's school hours. Bus pick-ups will run 90 minutes delayed. For example, if your child's normal pick-up time is 8:15 AM, the adjusted time would be 9:45 AM. This schedule will also be followed for special needs in and out of district students as well as private school students that have bus transportation.
