10-11-2019 Letter To The Community

  • Dear School Community,

I’m pleased to share this latest update on our school district’s water testing. As you may recall from my August 30, 2019 communication, we completed our annual, comprehensive testing of 333 water sources including water fountains, kitchen/food prep equipment, ice machines, and sinks.

The results for the 2019 summer testing were extremely favorable, and we can confidently say that all operational district water sources are safe.

Out of the 333 water sources tested, 9 water fixtures were found to have results above the acceptable limits for lead and they were immediately taken out of service.  We remediated all 9 water sources and retested them. The testing results indicate that all 9 water sources are below the acceptable limits for lead and are cleared to be put back into service.

The water testing report for the 9 water sources is available by clicking here

We’ll continue to test our water sources on an annual basis, despite state regulations that require testing only once every six years.   As a reminder, children are far more likely to come in contact with lead at home than at their school.

If you have concerns, I recommend that you discuss the risks of lead poisoning with your healthcare provider.

    Thank you,

    Dr. Aubrey A. Johnson
    Superintendent of Schools
