New Brunswick Public Schools is happy to welcome Ms. Gabriella Guerriero to our district! Ms. Guerriero is a student-teacher that will be working in New Brunswick High School's ESL classes during the school year. She graduated this past May with a Bachelor's in Latino and Caribbean Studies from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.
While student-teaching at NBHS, Ms. Guerriero will be continuing her studies as well! She's a Masters of Education student at the Rutgers Graduate School of Education in New Brunswick, NJ. She is also pursuing her certification in K-12 ESL and Bilingual Education with long-term hopes to teach at the middle school/high school level.
Recently, Ms. Guerriero has been reading Assata Shakur's autobiography. She is a firm believer in the power of narrative in language learning, and reading Shakur's autiobgraphy affirmed Ms. Guerriero's thoughts that language learning must run conjointly to learning about one's self, the communities one is a part of, and the fight for liberation.
We know that she will be amazing at preparing, empowering, and inspiring our students to be lifelong learners and leaders!
An inspirational message to her students:
"You are full of poder and conocimiento, and no one can take that away from you. Bring that to every classroom you show up in, and honor it in those around you."
